Company Culture at Candlefox – What Makes Us Different
We’re not just a team here at Candlefox, we’re a family!
As we grow out the team globally, we’re determined to take advantage of our most valuable asset – our people.
While we’ve been busy expanding our offices, we’ve also become much more than just a lead generation service for education providers.
Thanks to the work of the team and their unique expertise, we’ve become thought leaders across the education industry, as well as optimising the end to end student experience and maximising enrolments for education providers.
Who We Are
Our mission doesn’t stop at streamlining the student acquisition journey. We want to empower prospective students as well as our own staff.
We believe that an empowered team is the foundation for a successful organisation. We are always inspiring and challenging each other, with a built-in, holistic support system. We look after each other in every aspect – both professionally and personally. There’s so much more for us to learn and do, and there is no way we could get there without each and every one of us.
Our most important asset as a business is our people.
Zig van der Sluys
One of our goals is to preserve a workplace environment that is innovative and supportive; a space where everyone can thrive. We value creativity over hierarchy, and all ideas are embraced, as the best kinds can come from anywhere.
We’ve also crafted a culture of inventors and go-getters. We’re a team that is not bound by conformity, encouraging each other to find comfort in discomfort, to always try new things and never stray from the unknown.
For our younger team members, we pride ourselves in giving them the flexibility to find their feet and forge their own path in the business. We try and nurture each and every one of our team members, meaning that career progression, learning and development are just as important as day to day tasks.
Pushing the boundaries together, we work really hard and have a good time doing it.
It’s not uncommon for our team members to say that Candlefox is the most comfortable they’ve ever felt in a workplace, which is something we’re immensely proud of.
When We’re Not At Our Desks
We’re big on health and wellbeing, with ping pong tournaments, boot camp, push-up challenges and run club just some of the regular activities in our calendars. We firmly believe in balance during the workday, and sometimes this can mean origami at the kitchen table, or sprinting around the park at lunchtime.
Asides from our team social activities and delicious snacks that are always sitting in the kitchen, we have a flexible and supportive working environment, as well as industry leading, gender neutral parental leave.
We sat down as a team to create our company values, which means that we live and breathe them pretty much every day.
What started off as a brainstorming exercise came together as five distinct company values:
TGIM! (Thank God it's Monday!)
We’re not just a team, we’re a family. We always look after each other. It’s awesome to be at work – ‘Thank God it’s Monday!’
Hungry Like the Fox
Forever hunting, we’re never ones to stand still. Our thirst for knowledge is never satisfied.
If something is worth doing, it’s worth doing amazingly
We are empowered to crank the dial; we take the lead by grabbing the journey by the horns. Second best is not in our vocabulary.
Get Stuff Done, Have Some Fun
We celebrate all wins, injecting fun into everything that we do.
Challenge Conformity, Pursue Discomfort
We have an inspiring team led by a culture of innovation. Not bound by conformity, we encourage each other to find comfort in discomfort.
Testimonials From the Team
I feel like every day when I come to work there’s always something new – some boundary that we’re trying to push within the business.
There’s a real sense that you’re cared for and supported as a person.
My manager sits me down and asks me what my career goals are and seeing how I can work on projects and change my role to fit that, which is amazing.
Content & Multimedia Assistant
Whether it be training, going to events, conferences, any opportunity to learn and grow the business has always supported me in doing that. Regardless of if you’re already skilled to do something, the culture is just to give it a go and learn.
